The four guardians of the old Chinese sky, the azure dragon, the vermilion bird, the white tiger and the black tortoise, are the top symbols of Mythical Guardians, a December 2025 slot from PG Soft. What makes them pay is a frame. A framed symbol that wins turns into a wild and rewrites the symbols around it, and twice in my 100 demo spins at 12.00 that happened inside free spins, for rounds of 523.80 and 436.20.
Same game, real money
Cafe Casino runs the same Mythical Guardians with the same math and adds a welcome bonus for players from the United States:
300% up to $2,000 + 150 FS 18+ · T&Cs apply · the demo stays freeWhat a frame does
- The frame does not change how the symbol pays; it still needs a win.
- When the winners explode, the framed one stays and becomes a wild.
- In the base game every cell in its row or its reel is activated; in free spins its row and its reel both are, a full cross.
- Activated cells change into new symbols before the next drop. Any other frame caught in the cross turns wild and spreads in turn.
The rules say the cells become randomly selected symbols. Every cross I saw filled with copies of one symbol, so a single frame can line up a whole set of matching symbols at once.
Spin 50: two dragon crosses
Three pots gave 10 free spins, and the first of them brought only 7.80. Then a framed dragon on reel two took part in a 13.20 win, turned wild, and its row and reel lit up.
All seven cells became azure dragons. Together with the dragons already on the board they paid 249.00, and the free spin ended at 267.00.
On the second-to-last spin it happened again: a 4.80 win, a wild, a cross of dragons, 241.20 on top and 246.00 for the spin. The last free spin added 3.00, and the round closed at 523.80, almost 44 stakes.
Spin 71: two frames on one free spin
The second round followed 21 spins later. Its first free spin paid 67.20, and after seven spins with little in them the second-to-last one began with 4.80. One frame turned wild, the cross filled with wood glyphs, and in the next drop the black tortoises paid 290.40.
A second frame then turned wild at the top of reel three and spread its own cross, of earth glyphs. That free spin paid 346.20, and the round 436.20.
A hundred spins in short
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Staked | 1,200.00 |
| Returned | 1,591.20 |
| Winning spins | 31 |
| Free spin rounds (spins 50 and 71) | 960.00 |
| Base cascades on spins 32 and 25 | 250.80 |
| Other 27 wins | 380.40 |
| End balance | 100,391.20 |
Two thirds of the hundred spins paid nothing, and the longest dry run, spins 85 to 92, went eight spins without a win. The rounds carried the session; without them it would have ended 568.80 down.

1,024 ways and five elements
The board has five reels of four rows. Wins pay on ways from the left, winners explode and new symbols fall in. Wilds and framed symbols land only on reels two to four, and a golden pot is the scatter. Below the guardians sit five element glyphs: metal, wood, water, fire and earth.
| Symbol | 3 / 4 / 5 per way | Five at 12.00 |
|---|---|---|
| Azure dragon | 10 / 40 / 100 | 60.00 |
| Vermilion bird | 8 / 20 / 50 | 30.00 |
| White tiger, black tortoise | 5 / 10 / 30 | 18.00 |
| Element glyphs | 2 / 5 / 10 | 6.00 |
The glyphs are cheap one at a time, but on 1,024 ways they stack up. On spin 32 wood glyphs covered all five reels, two of them on the first, two on the fourth and three on the last, which made 12 ways of five and 72.00. The cascade behind it took the spin to 128.40 without a single frame.

Framed tiles that become wilds after winning are also part of Lucky Neko, though there a frame has to win twice.
