Spirited Wonders Demo

One free spin in my Spirited Wonders session paid 2,629.80 on a 12.00 bet. It ran six winning rounds, and the last three were paid at x15, the top lantern of the bonus. My 100 demo spins brought four rounds of free spins, and the balance finished 3,712.20 up.

Four bonus rounds in 100 spins

Twenty-nine spins won, and almost all the money came from the bonus. The four spins that triggered free spins paid 4,299.60 between them, while the other twenty-five winning spins added 612.60, fifteen of them less than the 12.00 stake. The balance was at its lowest, 99,830.80, after spin 16, one spin before the big round.

The dry spells were long, though. Spins 52 to 62 lost eleven times in a row.

Yokai on a temple stage

The six reels sit under a temple roof with four paper lanterns. Reels one and six hold four rows, reels two to five hold five. Many symbols drop in as tiles two to four cells tall, each counted once. The counter above the board swings from 256 to 10,000 ways because of them. A red daruma doll serves as the wild, and I only ever saw it on reels two to five, as the rules say. Ways pay from the left, and winners burst for a cascade.

Values are per way at the base bet of 20, so at 12.00 each point is 0.60. Three oni pay 6.00 on one way, and the cards hardly count until many ways line up.

Red mystery tiles

The game's special symbol is a red tile with a question mark. It never pays by itself and stays on the board through the cascade. When nothing else wins, every mystery tile on the reels turns into the same random symbol, and the board is paid again. On spin 45 seven of them were waiting after three winning rounds.

Seven red mystery tiles on the reels

All seven became kings. With the wild on reel two they made twelve ways of four kings, 36.00, and by then the fourth lantern was lit.

Mystery kings pay 180.00 at x5

At x5 the round paid 180.00, and spin 45 finished on 225.60, my best result outside the bonus.

Lanterns from x1 to x5

The lanterns are the multiplier. A spin's opening round is paid at x1. If it wins, round two is paid at x2, round three at x3, and round four and anything after it at x5. Mahjong Ways uses the same four steps. Here the bonus lifts the lanterns to x3, x6, x9 and x15, and every new free spin goes back to the x3 lantern.

Spin 17, free spin five

The scatter is a red shrine gate. Three of them start the bonus with 10 free spins, and each gate past the third adds two more. On spin 17 the three gates landed during a base cascade that had paid 30.60.

Ten free spins with tripled multipliers

The first four free spins brought 18.00. The fifth opened with 18.00 at x3, and its second round was a set of red oni worth 72.00 before the x6.

Red oni win 432.00 at x6

That was 432.00. Rounds of 10.80 at x9 and 72.00 at x15 followed, then 477.00, also at x15, and the sixth round lined up kappas on the first five reels: twelve ways with a wild on reel four, 108.00 before the multiplier.

Kappa win of 1,620.00 at x15

Multiplied by fifteen, it came to 1,620.00, and the free spin ended on a Super Mega Win.

Super Mega Win 2,629.80 in free spins

The remaining five free spins added 255.60, so the round totalled 2,903.40 and spin 17 as a whole 2,934.00, 244.5 stakes.

The other three rounds

None of them came close, and none got past its first ten spins. Spin 41 started the bonus straight from the reels and collected 784.80; most of it, 541.80, came from the seventh free spin, where the fourth round of a cascade, 24.00, was paid at x15. Spin 89 was the only one where the base game did real work first: a mystery reveal of kappas paid 108.00 at x3, the cascade reached 174.00, and then the scatters landed and the free spins added 243.00. Spin 30, the weakest, paid 163.80 in total.

Spirited Wonders FAQ

When do the mystery tiles reveal?
Only after the cascade has no more wins. Then every question-mark tile flips to the same symbol, picked at random from the regular ones, and the game pays whatever that creates.
How high does the multiplier go?
x5 in the base game, reached on the fourth winning round of a cascade. During free spins each lantern is tripled: x3, x6, x9, x15.
How many shrine gates trigger the bonus?
Ten free spins for three shrine gates, plus two for each further gate. Every one of my four rounds opened with the minimum of three.

The forest spirits of Mystical Spirits also come as tall tiles on six reels, but there three coloured chests multiply each other instead of lanterns.
