In the free spins of Dreams of Macau the multiplier only goes back to x1 when a new feature starts, and in my round it had climbed to x11 by the last spin. Those 15 spins paid 1,126.80 on a 36.00 stake, more than 31 times the bet. PG Soft set the game in Macau in June 2020: a hostess in a red dress, sports cars, diamond watches, cases of cash and piles of chips under the lights of the Las Vegas of the East. Six reels cascade with a number of ways that changes every spin, from 2,025 to 32,400. Tall symbols in silver frames can turn gold and then wild, and each wild carries a counter of the wins it has left.
Same game, real money
Cafe Casino runs the same Dreams of Macau with the same math and adds a welcome bonus for players from the United States:
300% up to $2,000 + 150 FS 18+ · T&Cs apply · the demo stays freeA top reel and symbols up to four high
The main board is six reels of five rows. Above reels two to five runs a horizontal reel that adds one more symbol to each of those four. A symbol there can stretch over up to four spaces, yet it counts as a single symbol. The plaque at the top gives the ways: the symbol counts of all six reels multiplied together.
My first screen read 7200 WAYS. Tall symbols on all four middle reels at once cut the count to 2,025: five symbols on each outer reel and three on each middle one. With no tall symbols at all the middle reels show six each, and the ways rise to 32,400. Wilds appear on reels two to five only and replace everything except the diamond scatter.
Cars and dice into a 349.20 cascade
I played at 36.00 a spin, bet size 0.90 on level 2 times the base bet of 20. One paytable point was therefore 1.80. The first round of this spin had three gold cars on reel one, a tall car on reel two and a wild at the foot of reel three. Two dice on reel one connected as well, through a dice in the top reel above reel two and that same wild.
The cars formed 3 ways of three at 20 points, 60 points in all, and the dice 2 ways at 6 points, another 12. Those 72 points are 129.60, the WIN figure on screen and already 3.6 times the stake. Then the cascades added 79.20, 54.00, 21.60 and more, and the spin closed as a Big Win of 349.20.
Framed symbols and the wild counter
Now and then a tall symbol lands inside a silver frame. A win moves the frame up a step, and a second win turns the symbol into a wild:
- Silver frame: if the symbol is part of a win, it stays instead of exploding and returns next round as a random symbol in a gold frame.
- Gold frame: if it is part of a win, it comes back next round as a wild.
- Wild: the number on top counts the wins it can still join. Every win takes one off, and a wild showing 1 that wins is gone the round after.
The wild keeps the height of the symbol it grew from, so it covers several rows of its reel, and the counter can hold it there through more than one cascade. Symbols without a frame explode after a win as usual.
On the next screen the wild on reel two shows a 2 and spans two rows, so it still has two wins to give.
Ways of the Qilin, which PG Soft released a year later, uses the same silver, gold and wild steps. What it lacks is this counter, the part that lets one wild serve several wins in Dreams of Macau.
A free spins multiplier that carries over
Four scatters anywhere start 15 free spins, two more come with every extra scatter, and the feature can be retriggered. The win multiplier begins at x1 and rises by one after each cascade round that wins. According to the rules it is set to x1 only when the feature begins, so whatever it reaches on one free spin carries into the next.
Mine arrived on the 46th spin of the session. The counter under the reels moved x1, x2, x3 and kept going; with five free spins left it read x8, and that spin alone was a Mega Win of 590.40.
The final free spin played at x11. Outside the feature there is no multiplier at all, so the same small ways wins that pay a few coins in the base game were worth eight or ten times more late in this round.
Together the 15 free spins paid 1,126.80, 31.3 times the stake and about three times my best base game spin. PG Soft's game page puts the maximum win at 100,000x; the in-game rules mention no cap.
Hostess on top, card ranks at the bottom
Every value below is in points, and one point is bet size times bet level. Six of a kind on one way, divided by the 20 points a spin costs, gives the last column.
Six hostesses on one way return four times the stake. Q, J and 10 pay a fifth of the stake even for six, so they need many ways at once to count for much:
| Symbol | 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 of a kind | 6 of a kind vs stake, per way |
|---|---|---|
| Hostess | 30 / 40 / 60 / 80 | 4x |
| Sports car | 20 / 25 / 50 / 70 | 3.5x |
| Diamond watch | 10 / 25 / 40 / 60 | 3x |
| Case of cash | 8 / 15 / 20 / 30 | 1.5x |
| Chips, dice | 6 / 10 / 12 / 15 | 0.75x |
| A, K | 4 / 6 / 8 / 10 | 0.5x |
| Q, J, 10 | 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 | 0.2x |
Release, ways range and a 0.60 to 180 bet
The whole game fits in one table. The demo above runs on a virtual balance, and the home page lists the other free PG Soft slots on the site:
| Feature | Specification |
|---|---|
| Provider | PG Soft |
| Released | June 2020 |
| Board | 6 reels x 5 rows + top reel over reels 2-5, cascades |
| Ways | 2,025 to 32,400, base bet 20 |
| Tall symbols | 2 to 4 spaces on reels 2-5, count as one |
| Wilds-on-the-Way | Silver frame, then gold frame, then wild with a use counter |
| Free spins | 15 for 4 scatters, +2 per extra; multiplier +1 per winning round; retrigger possible |
| RTP | 96.73% |
| Max win | 100,000x (PG Soft game page) |
| Bet in the demo | 0.60 to 180 per spin |
A new demo opens at 12.00 a spin. The base bet of 20 is fixed, so the smallest size, 0.03, on level 1 costs 0.60 and the largest, 0.90, on level 10 costs 180.00; sizes 0.10 and 0.30 sit in between.

Base game against free spins
Dreams of Macau gives each spin a lot to track: silver frames turn gold, gold turns wild, and a tall wild with a counter can hold a cascade together for several rounds. Small wins came often in the base game, and my best chain there, the cars and dice spin, stopped at 349.20. The free spins played on a different scale. One round, 15 spins, a multiplier at x11 by the end, and 1,126.80 on the total screen.
