Why the ways counter changes every spin
Look at the plaque above the reels and you will see a different number almost every spin - 7776 WAYS on the screen below. The reason is the long tiles: on reels two to five, a symbol can occupy two, three or four spaces, and a tall tile counts as just one symbol when the ways are worked out. Reels one and six always show six single symbols.
That gives the range in the rules. With the middle four reels at their tallest tiles - two symbols each - you get 6 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 x 6 = 576 ways; with every reel showing six single symbols you get 6 to the sixth power, 46,656. Wins are counted from the leftmost reel to the right, the number of matching symbols on each reel is multiplied together, and that product multiplies the symbol's pay:
The leprechaun wild substitutes for everything except the scatter and only appears on reels two to five, the same reels that carry the tall tiles. The studio returned to the Irish theme in Lucky Clover Riches, which drops reels altogether and pays groups of eight or more symbols.
Wilds-on-the-Way: silver, then gold, then wild
The tall tiles are also where the game's signature feature lives. Some of them land with a silver frame. If a silver-framed tile is part of a win, then after the cascade it turns into a random symbol with a gold frame; if that gold-framed tile wins again, it turns into two to four wilds, one for every space it covered.
My 162.00 spin caught the first step. Three jacks on reel one, the wild on top of reel two and three jacks on reel three - one of them a silver-framed tile two spaces tall - made 3 x 1 x 3 = 9 ways. A jack pays 1 for three of a kind, multiplied by bet size and level (0.90 x 9 = 8.10), so nine ways paid 72.90. The ways counter read 6480 for that spin.
Two honest notes about that screen. The 72.90 was less than half the stake, which is normal for a jack win however many ways it covers. And the silver-framed jack took part in the win, so by the rules it comes back gold after the cascade - and if it wins once more, those two spaces become two wilds. That slow, two-step promotion is how the base game builds its bigger hits, and PG Soft reused it a year later in Lucky Neko, where cats add a multiplier on top.
What the symbols pay, per way
The paytable lists values for three to six of a kind, multiplied by bet size and level. A spin costs 20 times that product, so dividing by 20 shows what each way is worth against the whole stake:

Free spins: the multiplier that only goes up
Four scatters anywhere award 15 free spins, and every scatter beyond four adds two more. The feature starts at x1, and every time a free spin produces a win, the multiplier rises by one after the cascade - win after win, cascade after cascade; the rules set no cap and mention no reset between spins. Free spins can also be retriggered, and they replay the stake that triggered them. Ways of the Qilin, built on the same board in 2021, lets the scatters decide how fast its multiplier climbs.
The catch is how often you get there. PG Soft's game sheet puts the free spins hit rate at 0.30%, about one trigger every 333 spins, and the feature carries 22.35 of the 97.35 RTP points. The board in my first screenshot shows three scatters - one short of the four needed - and that is the scene you will see most often.

Two details from the sheet change how the game feels. Three quarters of the return comes from the base game, which is unusual for a slot with a free spins multiplier and explains why ordinary spins keep paying something. And the game's own celebration banners start late: a Big Win means 20x to 35x the stake and turns up about once in 312 spins, a Mega Win 35x to 50x once in 1,226, and a Super Mega Win above 50x once in 1,652. On the maximum, the 100,000x is PG Soft's advertised cap, while the largest result in its billion-spin simulation was 9,893x.
Bet size, level and the 20-coin base
The Bet Options panel multiplies a bet size, a bet level from 1 to 10 and a fixed base bet of 20 - my bigger stake was 0.90 x 9 x 20 = 162.00, one step below the 180.00 maximum.
In the demo the bet sizes run from 0.03 to 0.90, so a spin costs between 0.60 and 180. PG Soft's default casino setup is smaller, from 0.20 to 20 in euros, and the real-money limits you see depend on the operator and currency.

Leprechaun Riches is a better game than its cheerful cartoon suggests: a 97.35% RTP, a base game that does most of the paying, and a Wilds-on-the-Way chain that rewards patience over a few cascades. The free spins are where the multiplier can run away, but at roughly one trigger in 333 spins they are a bonus, not a plan. Spend some time in the demo watching the silver frames turn gold - once you have seen a frame finish as wilds, you will understand what the game is really paying you for.
