Muay Thai Champion has one of the highest RTPs of any game reviewed on this site: 97.38%, according to PG Soft, second only to its 2019 stablemate Ninja vs Samurai. The studio announced it in October 2019 as a tribute to the "art of eight limbs", and the game is built like a bout: a red corner and a blue corner with mirror-image symbols, fighters that call wilds onto the reels, and free spins where those wilds stay until the final bell. Underneath it is a plain 5x3 slot with 20 fixed lines, which makes it one of the easiest PG Soft games to calculate.
Same game, real money
Cafe Casino runs the same Muay Thai Champion with the same math and adds a welcome bonus for players from the United States:
300% up to $2,000 + 150 FS 18+ · T&Cs apply · the demo stays freeRed corner, blue corner
Almost every symbol comes in a red and a blue version that pay exactly the same: the two fighters, the two fists and the two pairs of shorts. Below them sit A, K, Q and J. The board is five reels of three symbols, and the demo opens on a showcase screen with both corners on display.
Two red fighters sit at the top of reels one and two, two blue fighters at the bottom of reels four and five, two scatters in the middle row and four wilds on the outer reels. Four fighters on one screen would trigger the Fighter Feature with four extra wilds, which is why this opening board looks so busy.
The Fighter Feature: one wild per fighter
Whenever one or more fighter symbols, red or blue, land anywhere on the reels, the Fighter Feature starts. For every fighter on the screen, a wild drops onto a randomly chosen position; positions that already hold a wild or a scatter are never picked.
The rules illustration shows three fighters bringing three wilds to the board. Fighters are also the second-best paying symbol, so a screen with several of them pays twice: through their own lines and through the wilds they add. The wild substitutes for everything except the scatter and the Combo Wild, and it has its own pays.
Free spins: wilds that stay to the end
Three, four or five scatters anywhere award 8, 12 or 15 free spins, played at the stake that triggered them. The scatter does not appear during the feature, so there is no retrigger; the count you start with is the count you get.
The twist is what happens to the Fighter Feature in free spins. Every wild it adds stays on the reels as a Combo Wild until the feature ends. Combo Wilds substitute for every symbol except the scatter, and the board only gets fuller as the round goes on.
In the rules picture four Combo Wilds are already in place: one on reel one, one on reel two and two on reel three. With 15 spins and every fighter adding a permanent wild, a long round can end with a large part of the 15 positions covered. Sticky features that build through the free spins are something PG Soft returned to years later in Poker Kingdom Win, where its stacked symbols stay put for the whole round.
Twenty lines and what they pay
All 20 lines are always active. Wins pay from the leftmost reel to the right, only the best win per line is paid, and wins on different lines add up. A spin costs 20 times bet size and level, so dividing a line pay by 20 shows it against the whole stake.
Five wilds on one line pay 1,000, or 50x the stake, and five fighters pay 10x. Because wilds substitute for everything and pay the most themselves, the Combo Wilds of the free spins are where the big numbers come from:
| Symbol | 3 / 4 / 5 on a line | 5 on a line vs stake |
|---|---|---|
| Wild | 40 / 100 / 1000 | 50x |
| Red or blue fighter | 30 / 100 / 200 | 10x |
| Red or blue fist | 25 / 60 / 120 | 6x |
| Red or blue shorts | 20 / 40 / 100 | 5x |
| A, K, Q, J | 10 / 20 / 40 | 2x |
Even the card symbols pay half the stake for three on a line, which is generous by PG Soft standards and fits the high RTP. My screenshots for this game cover the opening screen and the rules rather than winning spins, so the figures here come straight from the paytable.
Muay Thai Champion by the numbers
PG Soft's game page lists a 97.38% RTP and a 15,000x maximum win. That RTP is above Leprechaun Riches at 97.35% and only just below the 97.44% of Ninja vs Samurai, the highest figure on this site. The studio does not publish a volatility rating, so I leave it out:
| Feature | Specification |
|---|---|
| Provider | PG Soft |
| Released | Announced October 2019 |
| Reels / rows | 5 x 3 |
| Lines | 20 fixed |
| Fighter Feature | One wild added per fighter symbol on the reels |
| Free spins | 8 / 12 / 15 for 3 / 4 / 5 scatters, no retrigger |
| Combo Wilds | Fighter Feature wilds stay until the end of free spins |
| RTP | 97.38% |
| Max win | 15,000x |
| Bet in the demo | 0.60 to 180 per spin |
Bet: 0.60 to 180 in the demo
The demo opens at 12.00. The Bet Options panel multiplies a bet size, a bet level from 1 to 10 and the 20 fixed lines; 0.30 x 4 x 20, for example, comes to 24.00.
Bet sizes run from 0.03 to 0.90, so a spin costs from 0.60 (0.03 x 1 x 20) to 180.00 (0.90 x 10 x 20). Real-money limits depend on the casino and the currency, as with every game in the PG Soft collection on this site.

Verdict
Muay Thai Champion is an old-school PG Soft line slot with one good idea and a very good RTP. Fighters call wilds onto the board, and in free spins those wilds never leave, so a round of 15 spins can end with a screen full of Combo Wilds paying on all 20 lines. At 97.38% it returns more on paper than almost any other game reviewed here. Give the demo a few rounds and watch how many wilds the fighters bring; that is the whole fight.
