Super Golf Drive Demo

Two rounds of free spins in 100 spins is more than I usually see in a PG Soft demo, and Super Golf Drive delivered both, on spins 19 and 53. The second one was nearly empty until its last free spin, which climbed to x11 and paid 418.80 on a 12.00 bet. This May 2023 golf slot runs on mystery tiles: framed symbols that win turn into mysteries, and when a cascade runs dry with three or more of them on the board, they all reveal the same symbol and add to the multiplier.

Fairway, carts and a 6x6 grid

Six reels of six rows hold symbols one, two or three rows tall; a tall block counts as one symbol, so the ways figure shown above the reels changes with every drop, from 576 to 46,656. Wins pay from the left and cascade. The golden golf-ball wild appears on reels two to five and covers everything except the scatter and the mystery tile.

I left the bet where the demo put it, 12.00 (0.30 on level 2, twenty base bets), and a point in the paytable was therefore 0.60.

How a mystery tile is made and spent

  1. Some symbols land in a frame. If a framed symbol wins, it comes back in the next round as a mystery tile, a golfer's silhouette.
  2. Mysteries sit on the board while the cascade continues.
  3. When a round produces no win and three or more mysteries are showing, each one adds x1 to the multiplier and all of them flip to the same random symbol before anything is paid.

The reveal often creates a new win on the spot, which restarts the cascade, so a single spin can go through the cycle more than once. In the base game the multiplier belongs to that spin only.

Spin 19: golfers, then kings at x9

The spin had already paid a few small rounds when a group of mystery tiles flipped to the female golfer, the top symbol, and that round paid 144.00 at x3.

More framed winners became mysteries, the multiplier moved to x5, and the next reveal turned them all into kings while the bar jumped to x9. The kings were worth 24.00 on their own and 216.00 after the multiplier.

Super Golf Drive kings paid at x9

The cascade ended at 412.80, a Mega Win, with scatters left on the board that opened 10 free spins. Those paid another 101.40, so the spin returned 514.20 in all, almost 43 stakes.

A bonus that remembers the multiplier

Ten free spins need four of the golden trophy scatters; extra trophies are worth two more spins apiece, and retriggers are possible. The difference from the base game is that every step the mysteries add to the multiplier is kept until the round is over.

Spin 53 tested that rule. Nine free spins brought only 14.40, and the multiplier had not moved. On the last one, three reveals in the same cascade lifted it from x1 to x5, then x8, then x11.

Super Golf Drive final free spin x8

That final free spin paid 418.80, and the round closed at 433.20. Together with 9.60 from the triggering spin, spin 53 was worth 442.80.

The golfer pays 30 points per way even for three of a kind, so a reveal that turns several tiles into golfers can pay well before any multiplier. Card reveals pay little before the multiplier, as the 24.00 of kings on spin 19 shows.

Scorecard after 100 spins

The demo balance ended at 100,377.40, so 1,577.40 came back on 1,200.00 staked. Forty-three spins paid something, but the two spins with free spins accounted for 957.00; without them the session would have finished 579.60 down. The best base-game spins apart from spin 19 were 94 (121.80), 47 (86.40) and 54 (67.20).

Both the 96.77% and the 8,000x ceiling are quoted from PG Soft. Ultimate Striker, released five months later, uses the same 6x6 grid with 576 to 46,656 ways for football, with a fixed multiplier ladder instead of mysteries.

Super Golf Drive: what players ask

What turns a symbol into a mystery tile?
It has to land with a frame and then be part of a win. In the following round it returns as a golfer silhouette, the mystery tile.
When do mystery tiles reveal?
Only after a round with no win, and only if at least three are on the board. They all show the same random symbol, and each adds x1 to the multiplier.
Is the multiplier kept during free spins?
Yes. Whatever the mysteries add during the round stays until the last free spin; in the base game it only lasts for the current spin.
Which symbol pays the most?
The female golfer: 30 points for three on a way up to 50 for six. The golf cart follows with 20 to 40.
