Four small stone plates sit under the middle reels of Asgardian Rising, and on my 30th spin they read x4, x4, x1 and x1 when a round of mugs was paid at x8 for 192.00. Those plates are the game. Every symbol that wins on reels two to five charges the plate below its reel, and the plates add up into one multiplier for the rest of the spin. PG Soft released this Viking slot in December 2022, marked with a "100th game" badge on its loading screen, with the chieftain Wolfe as the wild and a crow banner said to make his warriors invincible. I spun it 100 times at 12.00: 37 spins won, I ended 31.80 up, and the free spins stayed out of reach.

A familiar board
The layout is the one PG Soft first used for Dreams of Macau: six reels of five rows, an extra horizontal reel above reels two to five, and symbols on the middle reels that can stand two to four rows tall while counting as one. The ways shown at the top change with every cascade, between 2,025 and 32,400.
Wolfe's wild lands on reels two to five only. Framed symbols follow the older game's path: silver, then gold after a win, then a wild after a second one. Unlike Dreams of Macau, the wild here carries no use counter.
How the plates add up
Each base-game spin begins with the four plates dark, showing x1. After a winning round, each reel from two to five that held a winning symbol either switches its plate on or, if it is already on, adds 1 to it. Wins are multiplied by the sum of the plates that are on, so two plates at x1 already double the next round, and the total can grow on four reels at once.
Spin 30 shows the order of events:
- Round one paid 1.20 with no plate active.
- Two plates came on at x1, and round two paid 0.60 doubled, 1.20.
- Those plates rose to x2 each, and a round of aces with a wild was worth 6.00 before the x4: 24.00.
- A round of mugs came next. The first two plates stood at x3, the other two had just switched on at x1, and the x8 turned 24.00 into 192.00.
The spin ended at 218.40, about 18 stakes, and nearly nine tenths of it came from the last round. That is the usual shape of a good spin here: small early rounds that do little except charge the plates.
Spin 44 needed only two rounds. The first paid 7.20 and switched on the plates under reels two and three. In the second, two Wolfe wilds on reels two and four carried a run of axes and helmets that was paid at x2, 144.00, for a spin total of 151.20.
The best spin of the session, the 53rd, came close to the feature as well. It opened with 72.00 of treasure chests through a wild, then paid 6.00 and 28.80 while the plates climbed, and a final round at x8 added 153.60: 260.40 in all, nearly 22 stakes. Three scatters landed during those cascades, one short of the free spins. Three more spins ended between 60.00 and 77.40, each with two or more plates lit.
Free spins: plates at x2, +2 per win
The round needs four scatters and lasts 12 spins, with two more for every scatter past four. All four plates start every free spin switched on at x2, so the first round is already paid at x8, and a winning symbol raises its plate by 2 instead of 1. Every new free spin puts them back on x2. In Thai River Wonders, built on the same board, the free spins multiplier keeps climbing for the whole round; here it starts high on every spin but does not carry over. Four scatters never landed together in my session, so this part is based on the rules.
Chest at the top, card suits below
Each figure is paid per way, for runs of three up to six; the right-hand column sets a six-symbol way against the 20-point base bet.
| Symbol | 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 | Six on one way vs stake |
|---|---|---|
| Treasure chest | 30 / 35 / 40 / 50 | 2.5x |
| Axe and shield | 20 / 25 / 30 / 40 | 2x |
| Horned helmet | 10 / 15 / 20 / 30 | 1.5x |
| Drinking horn | 8 / 10 / 15 / 20 | 1x |
| Bread rolls, mug | 5 / 8 / 10 / 15 | 0.75x |
| A, K | 2 / 3 / 5 / 10 | 0.5x |
| Green rune, J, 10 | 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 | 0.2x |
Six chests on one way return two and a half stakes, so the plates, not the symbols, decide most of what a round is worth. More games built on climbing multipliers are among the PG Soft slots reviewed here.
Four plates, one total
Asgardian Rising takes the board of Dreams of Macau and Thai River Wonders and gives the base game what those games kept for the bonus: a multiplier that builds during a cascade. It pays often, but early rounds mostly exist to light the plates, and a spin is worth something only when the cascade survives three or four rounds. My two best spins, 260.40 and 218.40, both came that way. The free spins promise more, with x8 from the first round, but in 100 spins I got no further than three of the four scatters.
