Four briefcase wilds were stuck to the board when one of my free spins came to a stop, with the counter showing nine more to play. All four flipped into multipliers, x2, x5, x50 and x5, and the game added them together: a win of 33.60 became 2,083.20. That is how Mafia Mayhem, PG Soft's December 2023 crime slot, is meant to pay. Wilds stay where they land until the cascade is over, and at the end they can turn into multipliers worth up to x100 each.
Same game, real money
Cafe Casino runs the same Mafia Mayhem with the same math and adds a welcome bonus for players from the United States:
300% up to $2,000 + 150 FS 18+ · T&Cs apply · the demo stays free2,304 ways and a wild that stays
The board is uneven: three rows on the first two reels, four on the other four, which multiplies out to a fixed 2,304 ways paid from the left. Winning symbols are removed and new ones drop in, so one spin can run through several rounds. The wild, a black briefcase, only lands on reels three to six and covers for everything except the crossed-pistol scatter.
Some symbols on reels three to six arrive in a gold frame. A framed symbol that helps a win is replaced by a wild when the next round drops in. Once a wild is on the board it does not fall away with the winning symbols; it holds its spot until the spin ends. Ultimate Striker, released two months earlier, runs a two-step version of the same idea, silver frame first and gold second.
From a framed symbol to x10
Spin 16 opened with stacks of cash and chips across the first reels, worth 13.20. One of the winners on reel three had a gold frame and returned as a wild, and the cascade then stopped. With the spin over, the wild turned into a x10 multiplier.
The multiplier applies to the whole spin, so 13.20 became 132.00, eleven times my 12.00 stake. In the base game, though, the rules only say a wild "may" become a multiplier. Spin 92 showed what that means: six wilds were on the board when the cascade ended, and just one of them changed, into a x5.
The 100.80 won in that cascade was paid as 504.00. Spin 60 went better with fewer wilds: of three, two turned into x2 and x50, the game added them to x52, and a 24.60 win became 1,279.20, the best base-game result of my session.
Fifteen free spins, every wild converted
It takes three pistol scatters to open 15 free spins; a fourth or fifth adds two spins apiece. The feature changes one word in the rules: at the end of every free spin, every wild becomes a multiplier, from x2 to x100. Wilds still stick for the length of a spin, so a free spin that keeps cascading can collect several of them.
Mine came on spin 50. Before the big moment the round had collected 74.40, most of it from a single Big Win of 64.80. Then came the spin described at the top: a cascade worth 33.60 in total, during which four wilds settled on the board.
The four multipliers summed to x62, and 33.60 × 62 = 2,083.20. None of the nine free spins that followed paid anything, so the round closed at 74.40 + 2,083.20 = 2,157.60, almost 180 times the stake.
Boss, bourbon and brass knuckles
Values are per way. With a stake of 12.00 (size 0.30, level 2, on a base of 20) one paytable point was worth 0.60. The column on the right compares a six-symbol way with the 20 points a spin costs.
| Symbol | 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 | Six on one way vs stake |
|---|---|---|
| The boss | 8 / 10 / 15 / 20 | 1x |
| Cash and chips, whisky and cigar | 5 / 8 / 10 / 15 | 0.75x |
| Brass knuckles, fedora, rose | 2 / 3 / 5 / 10 | 0.5x |
| A, K, Q, J, 10 | 1 / 2 / 3 / 5 | 0.25x |
Even six bosses on one way only return the stake. Werewolf's Hunt came out in the same month with an equally thin paytable; its x2 to x20 tiles are summed once the reels stop, the same arithmetic as here. Without a multiplier the ways pay small sums, which matches what I saw: 29 of my 100 spins paid something, 23 of them less than 40.00, and every larger result came from multipliers or the free spins.

When a spin or a free spins round reaches 10,000x, the game stops it there. The RTP and the cap come from PG Soft. A different crime story with a wild that holds the board is Heist Stakes, where a single wild on the middle reel turns the whole reel wild.
100 spins at 12.00
My balance went from 100,000.00 to 103,550.80, which means 4,750.80 came back on 1,200.00 staked. That is far above what the game returns over time, and six spins explain it:
- Spin 50, free spins: 2,157.60
- Spin 60, x2 and x50: 1,279.20
- Spin 92, one x5 among six wilds: 504.00
- Spin 61, x5 and x3: 307.20
- Spin 73, a x20: 180.00
- Spin 16, a x10: 132.00
Together they paid 4,560.00. The other 23 winning spins added 190.80, less than a fifth of what I staked; take the multipliers away and this is a slot that loses steadily. Other PG Soft demos tested the same way are listed on the home page.
